December is typically a very busy month for me. It’s not only about finishing all the items from the past year’s “to do” list, but it’s also busy event-wise. Holiday parties, birthdays of Sagittarius and Capricorn friends, and endless pre New Year’s catch-ups. Foreseeing that this month would not be an exception, I figured that it makes sense to update my collection with a few party-ready dresses. Today I am collaborating with ASOS to share with you a series of posts featuring my top three holiday dresses. Make sure to check out the blog on Monday and Wednesday as I will be sharing my best holiday dressing tips and tricks. Meanwhile, don’t forget to check out the ASOS Party Dresses selection. There’s still enough time to order your perfect New Year’s Eve dress!
If you are invited to a house party in New York, it’s always hard to predict what people will be wearing. You might end up at either a fancy cocktail reception or a casual get together where most people are wearing pajamas-style clothes. Over the years of living in New York, I figured out my own recipe for success when it comes to house party dressing. Usually, I pick a sexy black dress like this lace dress with open back by ASOS and pair it with my favorite red lipstick. Yes, this look follows Coco Chanel’s famous recommendation, but why not if it always works?
This particular dress is more than a typical LDB. It consists of two dresses in one: a miniature dress underneath and a stretchy lace dress on top. I love the fact that this dress has a low neckline and open back. The dress is a statement in itself so it requires a few accessories, maybe a tiny necklace and high heels. Here is another New York style tip for you: no matter how small the party you are invited to, always wear heels. Having lived in the Big Apple for a while, I know that every house party is usually followed by the after party, so never be scared to be overdressed.
