When I am wearing my hair up, people often ask me if I am a ballerina or if I teach ballet. Well, outside of the ballet lessons of my childhood, the answer is no, but I do enjoy watching ballet performances and become inspired by graceful ballerinas.
During this photo shoot in Water Mill, I decided to play with my ballet dreams and tried on one of the favorite white dresses. I really love this BCBG gown because it combines two dresses in one: bondage-style mini dress on the bottom and a sheer chiffon overlay on top. Even though this dress is so unique and summery, I rarely have a chance to wear it. It is not considered good etiquette to wear a white dress at someone’s wedding so I can’t wear it there. I have been tempted to wear it this summer at some of the weekend black-tie events in the Hamptons, but there is nothing more upsetting than watching how a beautiful skirt end up with grass stains.
This weekend in the Hamptons, I wore extra high heels so I was not mopping the street with my skirt. The neckline of the dress felt a bit ’empty,’ so I decided to accessorize my look with a floral headband. As you might recognize from my previous posts, I often wear necklaces as hairbands, and hairbands as necklaces. I think that the floral crown that I was wearing as a necklace created an interesting contrast to my monochrome dress. I also felt that no additional jewelry was needed for this white maxi dress.
I wonder how did your Labor Day weekend go? Also, I would like to remind everyone about my Starbucks giveaway that I announced yesterday; check it out here.
