For those of you who doesn’t know yet, Betsey Johnson just celebrated her 50 anniversary as a designer by presenting a super fun show to over 1,000 people this past New York Fashion Week. Johnson’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection was dedicated and inspired by the best city in the world (of course, it’s New York!). The show itself constituted a tour to the most memorable to the designer decades, from the swinging 60s to the rebellion 70s and neon-infused 80s.
While it’s simply impossible to describe all of the splashes of color and rushes that happened on the runway (it’s better to watch yourself so here is video recap for you), what we can do is to follow some of the beauty and hairstyling ideas that I spotted at the show. Today I am collaborating with Sexy Hair to teach you how to create one of the hairstyle looks from Betsey Johnson’s NYFW show.
70s Hollywood Glam: This nostalgic asymmetrical hairstyle will be a perfect match for those ladies who are ready to go all the way in with voluminous hair. A couple of weeks ago I taught you how to create perfect curls for any occasion while this particular style is more relevant for the night-time. Make an emphasis on your beautiful eyes, put on a stretchy dress, and here comes your bohemian yet glamorous look circa 1970s.
Step #1: Preparation is the key while creating any hairstyle. Spray your hair slightly with Style Sexy Hair 450 Protect (on sale now at JCPenney). Brush your hair and create a deep side part on top.
Step #2: Divide hair into one-inch wide sections. Using a one-inch curling iron (check out this one by Sultra), start curling your hair holding the wand horizontally and wrapping each section from roots to ends. Make sure that each curl is facing in the same direction.
Step #3: When working on the top front sections, gently backcomb hair before curling them. If your hair is fine, apply Big Sexy Hair Powder Play to add texture to your hair.
Step #4: Using a boar bristle paddle brush, brush your hair through. Then arrange all curls together with fingers. Apply Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Touchable on the roots of your hair to add some extra volume.
