If you are familiar with the beauty-and-lifestyle subscription service Birchbox, you might be interested in attending this upcoming event at brand’s first permanent retail store in SoHo. According to the invitation, there will be many interesting perks offered, including beauty and hair presentations, free drinks and snacks, and an exclusive shopping offer (spend $35, get a gift). Make sure to RSVP to the event in advance via this EventBrite page (the event is free of charge).
The company’s founders, Katia Beauchamp and Hayley Barna, announced about Birchbox going offline this March, and recently the store has officially opened. I’ve researched company’s website, and it seems like Birchbox SoHo offers many interesting deals. For instance, you can choose five samples and build your own Birchbox for just $15 (this service is called B.Y.O.B. that probably means Build Your Own Birchbox).
Also, you can sign up for various makeup, skincare, and hair workshops that are free for Birchbox subscribers and cost $30 for non-subscribers. I haven’t tried any of Birchbox classes yet, but I assume that they are as good as those proposed by Sephora (you can read more about it in my post “Back to Basics: Skincare Class at Sephora“). Here is the list of the upcoming classes:
- Fall Nail Art: Practice simple nail art tricks with the most coveted colors for fall. October 8, 2014 (Wednesday) at 6:30 pm.
- Transitioning To Cold Weather Skincare: Find your missing skin care necessities to keep your complexion flawless. October 15, 2014 (Wednesday) at 6:30 pm.
In addition to group classes, you can also schedule an appointment with hair, makeup, or nail specialists that will prep you for any important events to attend. Please keep in mind that Birchbox SoHo does not propose the whole list of hair or nail services, just a couple of styling options that will refresh your look. In terms of hair styling, you can pick from a braid, bun, beach wave, glamour wave, or crown braid. These sessions usually last for about 30 minutes and cost just $30 — not bad comparing to other New York based hair salons.
Makeup application options are: Natural Glow (flawless skin), Go for the Bold (smoky eye and pink lip), Here Kitty, Kitty (“modern take on the classic cat-eye”), and Bright Eyes (eye makeup with the “outside-the-box hue”). Same as with hair, makeup sessions last 30 minutes and cost $30. You can also change your nail polish at Birchbox; it will cost you anywhere from $10 to $30 depending on whether you want to use nail art or not. Please keep in mind that nail services are available only for natural nails, but no acrylics or gels.
You can register for Birchbox SoHo workshops and classes here.
