My skin is very dry and it’s getting worse in fall and winter. During the cold season, I am dramatically changing my beauty routine and literally having a nourishing cream collection on me at all times. Today I decided to share with you some of my tips and tricks on how I am taking care of my skin during the cold season.
#1: In order to avoid making my skin even more dry, I am trying to wash my face less often. I skip a cleanser in the morning and just spritz my face with water, followed by Vichy Thermal Water. After that, I apply two of my favorite skincare products at the time: Clarins Double Serum followed by Clarins Multi-Active Day Cream. The latest is a bit thick so I wait a few minutes and then remove the excess of the product with a tissue.
#2: During late fall and winter I prefer staying at home for at least a half an hour after applying my moisturizer. I can’t really explain why, but many Russian women believe it’s the right way to go so I guess I am just following my mom’s beauty advice on that.
#3: I do use a primer and a foundation on a daily basis, and my favorite products at the time are Make Up For Ever Skin Equalizer Primer #4 Nourishing and Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation. I also make sure to have Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Stick Foundation in my handbag so I can fix my makeup during the day. The package of this product is very compact and cute and I love how it allows to camouflage any skin imperfections in a matter of seconds.
#4: When it comes to makeup, a mascara and a red lipstick are the most important beauty products for me. I also like applying a tiny amount of neutral eyeshadow so my makeup looks a bit more finished. I am currently using Tarte Light, Camera, Lashes or YSL Effet Faux Cils for lashes and Marc Jacobs Le Mark Lipstick in #200 Oh Miley for lips.
#5: My favorite eyeshadow palette at the time is URBAN DECAY On the Run Palette that I purchased a few weeks ago during Ulta Cyber Funday sale. I don’t know why but I stopped applying blush daily, but if I do, it’s either Clinique Cheek Pop Blush in Peach or Chanel Joues Contraste in Pink Explosion.
#6: I do take my face cleaning seriously and never go to bed with makeup. The first thing I do while getting ready for bed is remove makeup using Bioderma Miscellar Water. Then, while I am taking shower, I clean leftovers of my makeup with Philosophy Purity Cleanser. It’s a very mild product that makes my skin very smooth and moisturized.
#7: If my skin is breaking out, I also apply Burt’s Bees Natural Acne Solutions Purifying Gel Cleanser on problem areas. Every once in a while I also apply Neutrogena On-the-Spot Acne Treatment.
#8: After shower, I wipe my skin with Clinique 3 Steps Clarifying Toner For Dry To Mixed Skin and apply the same serum that I use in the morning, Clarins Double Serum. Then, I apply my favorite night cream that I’ve been using for years, Clarins Multi-Active Night Recovery Cream Dry Skin.
#9: I also make sure to moisturize my body right after I am getting out of shower. My current favorite moisturizer is Dove Extra Dry Cream Oil Body Lotion—it smells delicious and doesn’t feel too heavy.
#10: Finally, I do carry a hand lotion and a lip balm at my handbag, no matter how small it is. I have tons of products under this category that I switch almost every day (you can find the list of my favorite hand lotions here). For instance, today I have with me Nivea Smooth Indulgence Hand Cream and ChapStick Total Hydration in Fresh Citrus.
