The holiday season is a great opportunity to experiment with makeup and create looks that are a bit out of your comfort zone. I am not talking about dramatic changes, but rather about shifting the accents in your evening makeup. As you know, I am usually all about red lipsticks and contouring. Yet, for this year’s celebration I decided to try something new and created a look that emphasizes my eyes. Today I am collaborating with Ulta Beauty to show you step-by-step how I created this glittery and festive look.
To create this look, you will need the following beauty products:
Post-It sticky notes (you can find those at any office supply store)
Eye lashes curler (from Tarte Shine Bright Statement Lash Essentials set)
Lip gloss from Urban Decay Naked On The Run Palette
Step #1: Start by applying eye primer. I used Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion which is a bit thick for my taste, but it does prolong the life of my eye makeup for many hours. Some people use a concealer brush to apply eye shadow primer, but I think it’s better to use your fingertips as in that way the product absorbs quicker.
Step #2: This tip might sound a bit eccentric, but—trust me—it really works. Pick a vinyl sticky note and apply it under your lower lashes in a way that it creates a 45 degrees angle. By doing so, you are creating a ‘stencil’ that will make an eye liner application much easier.
Step #3: It’s time for a liquid eye liner. To create this look, I used a new for me Tarte Tasterist Day Paint Liner that comes with a tiny angled brush. The tube features a blending tip that makes it easier to clean the tube and ensure that your eyeliner tube is bacteria-free. When it comes to the brush, I found it convenient to work with. The angled tip really makes the trick so it’s not difficult at all to apply your eyeliner evenly.
Step #4: After you are done with the eyeliner, remove sticky notes from under the eyes area. You will see that the bottom of your liner is just perfect. I told you—the sticky note trick really works!
Step #5: Since I am wearing a peach pink dress today, I decided to pick a matching eye shadow. For this look I used NYX Ultra Pearl Mania, which is a single loose eyeshadow tube. The product has an elegant glitter in it which is not too overstated. I applied it with a blending brush, covering only lid and trying not to apply too much color on the eyeliner area.
Step #6: I felt that my eyes looked a bit tired and decided to brighten them up with a white NYX Retractable Eye Liner. I applied it on the lower lid and smudged it a bit with a fingertip.
Step #7: I used this pretty crystal embroidered eye curler from Tarte Shine Bright Statement Lash Essentials holiday gift set. I already have a full size mascara that comes in the set, but I decided to pick it anyways as I couldn’t resist this luxurious curler. If you are still looking for holiday presents, this set is one of the best stocking stuffers I’ve seen this year. By the way, today is the last day to order gifts so they are delivered to you before Christmas so don’t wait if you are still not done with your holiday shopping!
Step #8: The next product I used, Tarte Opening Act Lash Primer, made my lashes look longer, thicker, and better defined. This amazing lash product looks like a white mascara, but do not panic—you will not see any white color coming under your black mascara.
Step #9: The final step is a mascara. I used Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara mascara from the holiday gift set that I mentioned before, but I also own a full size version. In fact, I repurchased this mascara a few times as it is my absolute favorite eye product.
Step #10: Finish the look by applying a neutral lip gloss. Since I made the accent on the eyes today, it decided to match it with a neutral glossy lip look.
