New York Fashion Week is a big battlefield. The designers are fighting for media attention, media is fighting for the exclusive coverage, street style stars are fighting for insta-fame. Everyone is fighting against time. This season, a family design duo, Nicholas and Christopher Kunz, used this war metaphor to create Nicholas K Spring/Summer 2016 collection.
Models hit the runway draped in voluminous maxi dresses, ponchos, and multi-layered tops. The Mortal Combat vibe of the collection was emphasized by gold cuff bracelets and rope necklaces, sleek and easy hairstyles, and effortless makeup.
The feminine and fierce goddesses of destruction marched the runway wearing voluminous pieces in the shades of storm grey, midnight black, aerial blue, and nimbus white. The collection featured many industrial looking materials, including sandblasted dip dyed denim, distressed vintage leather, and parachute rip-stop nylon.
Among surprised prepared for the attendees of the show was a new collaboration of the Nicholas K brand with Casio. Specifically for the Spring/Summer 2016 presentation, the designer duo launched a collection of G-Shock S Series watches that come in silver, copper, and cobalt blue colors. Those accessories were color coordinated with the outfits and stylishly incorporated into the runways looks in a form of a classical wrist band or as a buckle of a rope necklace.
Behind the curtains of Nicholas K show, models had fun while getting through hours of preparation for the catwalk.
Wonder what was in Nicholas K goodie bag? Kiso Wear sleeves, Macadamia Oil conditioner, Votivo candle, Simply Gum, and Frederique’s Choice flower gift.
