I have always thought that there are not many gowns that you can wear all year long. The weather in New York is very unpredictable, and people don’t usually take the risk of ruining their designer maxi dresses in the autumn showers or winter snow. However, I feel that the dress that I am wearing in these pictures is appropriate for every season. Even though I am wearing it with peep toe shoes, I can imagine styling it with tall boots and a fur hand warmer.
In my opinion, a long black dress is as necessary in any girl’s wardrobe as the little black dress. The black color in clothing works as a basis for your imagination: You can always add some color and individuality to your look by using accessories and makeup.
I am ashamed to admit how many black dresses I have in my collection. These dresses are all different in style and length, but they are still black. To be honest, I am very obsessed with the black color and sometimes force myself to purchase an outfit in any other color simply because I already have too many black pieces in my wardrobe. Considering the fact that the black color is still dominant in my collection, these negotiations with myself are not always successful. What can I say? I just love it!
On a positive note, black clothing lasts longer than pieces in other colors. Moreover, black outfits are appropriate for almost any situation, from outfits for the office or going to a night club or, let’s say, the opera. By the way, this argument towards durability of black clothing is one of the arguments that I usually use when I am trying to justify another purchase of a black piece of clothing.
I wonder what your relationship is with the black color in clothing. What is the percentage of black pieces of clothing in your wardrobe?
