I guess I miss my parents and the Motherland (ha ha!) because the dresses I have recently selected more and more look typically Russian. Take a look, for instance, at this flower print bell dress by Red Valentino. I don’t know if you are familiar with typical Russian prints, but this is definitely one of them. Many of the Eastern European scarves and shawls are decorated with brightly colored floral prints and made out of glossy-looking fabric.
Same goes for a floral print fabric clutch, which is actually by another brand (Loeffler Randall—I’m obsessed with their bags right now!) but features a very similar print. Usually, I do not like wearing matchy-matchy looks, but in this particular situation, I figured that if my shoes are solid, it should be fine.
You’ll probably say, “Katya, but you look very Russian—not only because of your dress and a bag. How about a braid? It’s so Russian!” Oh, yes! And I’m wearing braids more and more now! If you remember posts about my recent hair experiments (first I was blonde, and then I became brunette), I got a haircut right after New York Fashion Week and continued trimming my lob. Overall, I really enjoy my new hairstyle and appreciate the fact that it literally takes me a few minutes to put my look together (okay, maybe 15); it doesn’t allow much room for experiments. My hair is long enough for curls and a ponytail but not for complicated braid looks. The past two months I asked my hairdresser to trim my hair just a little bit so I can play with a braid, and here you go—my first official braided hairstyle since the cut.
A few words about lipstick. I received a sample of this product in my Play! By Sephora box that I recently subscribed to, and I can’t get enough of it. The texture of this lipstick reminds me of my favorite, MAC Girl About the Town, but it tastes much pleasanter. Also, it doesn’t stain my lips after I remove it at night but still stays on my lips for the entire day (I would say eight hours straight for sure!). Even though I’m ready to go and purchase half of the shades from the collection in full size, I’m waiting for July 4th online shop sales to be in full swing.
