Every year, I am waiting for a Go Red For Women collaborative fashion show organized by Macy’s and American Heart Association, as it’s the best opportunity to see a lot of famous women all in one place and check out the gorgeous dresses renowned designers created for them. Go Red For Women show is somewhat heart breaking: some women in the audience are getting sentimental watching their childhood’s idols walking the runway. I also love watching how many women attend the show wearing red dresses as a token of their support of this good cause.
This season’s presentation was less about sharing heart health tips and more about creating a perfect show. I remember how a few seasons ago organizers tried to bring in celebrities who struggled with heart issues, but this year they provided an awareness package instead. This no-pressure approach made the event feel more like a fashion week show as opposed to a usual charitable gathering vibe.
What separates Go Red For Women show from other presentations is that the designers are working with real women. Yes, all of the ladies in red earned their fame for years of working in show business, but most of them have not been trained to walk the runway. On a Macy’s NYFW show, you will not find celebrities walking with emotionless faces and keeping their posture straight. Instead, it’s a mix of various body types and personalities that are united under the umbrella of helping others through fashion.
According to the feedback that I received while live streaming the show on Periscope, here is the list of most recognized and the best-dressed participants of the Go Red for Women show.
