I’ve always loved the look of braided updos as they are romantic and feminine, but this hairstyle takes so much time to repeat. For my everyday looks I prefer something more effortless, a hairstyle that I can pull off in just a couple of minutes. Recently, I’ve been all about two sided braids (actually, low bun braids too). Everybody knows how to make them, but so many girls are afraid to look ‘too childish’ with such hairstyle. If you are thinking the same way, I have a couple of tricks that will turn your childhood braids into a feminine and chic hairstyle.

Tip #1: Wear your braids the day after you had curls. It will add up additional volume and improves the texture of your two side braids.

Tip #2. Do not braid your hair all the way to the ends. Instead, opt in for long, loose ends (with leftover curls) and secure each braid with a tiny hair elastic.

Tip #3: Finally, do not try to perfectly part your hair and go for a messy look. The more effortless your hair looks, the less your hairstyle reminds a preschool.

P.S.—Remember my post about looking for a perfect iPhone 6+ case? Well, here is one of my current favorites that I purchased for just $1.88 from Amazon (can you believe it?).

your hair is so pretty!! 🙂

  • Love the contrast of dark stripes with red lips and the cognac belt. Well done 🙂

  • I think you’ve delivered the secret to braided pigtails without looking like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, or a preschooler as you said. Going down just half way with some texture and volume really does make them look much more chic. I think you could even pull them off for work!
