You know how it goes: you spent an entire month picking your holiday season outfit…and then you have just a few minutes to put on your festive makeup. This season, my strategy is to get ready for this kind of situations way in advance. Saying so, I already started working on a few holiday looks that literally take a few minutes to put together and could be repeated with the items that you already have in your makeup collection. However, since I’m incorporating in these tutorials some of the new product launches, this post also includes my review of those makeup goodies.
Okay, before we begin, let me round up for you all the makeup that I used in this tutorial.
Foundation: L’Oreal Irresistible Pro-Matte Foundation
Concealer: Born This Way Concealer in Light
Contouring Palette: PopBeauty Setting 101 Palette
Brow Kit: Brow Duette in Classy Brunette
Eyeshadow Primer: Kryolan Eyeshadow Primer
Eyeshadow Palette: Smith and Cult Book of Eyes Interlewd Palette
Eyeliner: PopBeauty Fluid Popliner in Poetic Plum
False Lashes: Ardel Natural Black Lash #120
Mascara: Pixi by Petra Lower Lash Mascara
Lip Liner: Stila in Pink Moscato
Liquid Lipstick: Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Fig
Now, when we know all the tools, let’s discuss the technique!
Step 0: Start by applying your favorite foundation and concealer. All of us have such different skin types and preferences that in this and upcoming tutorials, I decided to skip this step at all and allow you to pick your go-to foundation. In case you wonder, my current favorite foundation is L’Oreal Irresistible Pro-Matte Foundation that I use with a drop of Pixi By Petra Rose Oil Blend. I also love Too Faced newest concealer, Born This Way Concealer in Light, which I apply with my favorite e.l.f.cosmetics concealer brush (by the way, check out all of my e.l.f. cosmetics favorites in this blog post).
Step 1: I decided to start my look with filling in my brows using Pop Beauty’s newest brow kit, *Brow Duette in Classy Brunette. I’ve been using this pomade and powder shade for a few weeks now and it’s my current favorite as it matches my brows so perfectly. I rarely use the brush that comes with the set, but I bet it’s so handy when you are on the go! Before applying the pomade, I brush my brows and then use an angled brush to apply pomade only. It has a color to it so you are not blindly applying a sheer product, but start contouring your brows. Once you are done, camouflage light colors of your brows with a powder that comes in this set.
Step 2: I decided to go for a colorful eyeliner for this look, that is why an eyeshadow primer is essential. My current favorite *eyeshadow primer is by Kryolan, it’s a line of professional makeup that is popular amongst makeup professionals and I totally understand why! It really prolongs the life of my eyeshadows and makes the application process so much easier!
Step 3: Pick a light pink shade and apply it all over your lid. For this look, I chose a light pink shade from *Smith and Cult Book of Eyes Interlewd Palette that I reviewed in my October Beauty Favorites post. It’s a beautiful, pigmented shade that looks great on girls with green and brown eyes—I love the consistency of the shadows from this palette too!
Step 4: The next step is to apply an attention-getting eyeliner. You can pick any liquid eyeliner that you have in your collection, but I opted in for a new *PopBeauty Fluid Popliner in Poetic Plum that matches so perfectly my new floral dress that you saw in this post. This metallic violet eyeliner applies so easily and comes with a slight sparkle—it’s so perfect for holidays! By the way, the liner comes in three shades so expect additional tutorials on the blog featuring this eyeliner!
Step 5: Put on your favorite false lashes. Mine are from the drugstore (Ardel Natural Black Lash #120) and I use a lash glue from my BeautyCon box.
Step 6: Apply mascara on your lower lashes. As you already know, my current favorite mascara is *Pixi by Petra Lower Lash Mascara which features a miniature applicator that makes it easier to reach every single lash.
Step 7: It’s time for a blush! You probably remember my raving review about Becca Blushed with Light Blush Trio Palette and I stand by it! Since we are going for a purple-pink vibe, I selected the shade SnapDragon which is the lightest in the palette. I applied the blush using a brush from my newest affordable makeup brushes set.
Step 8: This step is the most exciting for me because it features the new setting powder kit by Pop Beauty, *Setting 101 Palette. This revolutionary palette features three shades of setting powder: Translucent, Banana, and Peach that should be applied to specific areas of your face. In other words, it’s like a contouring, but with the lightest setting powder—so your makeup always looks natural and not overdone. As per the directions, I applied Translucent shade onto my nose and forehead, Banana (my favorite of these three!) went under my cheekbone, brow bone, and on my chin, and Peach set the under eye area and onto the cupid’s bow.
Step 9: At this point of my tutorial I realized that I need a bit more color on my lids so I added a bit of a darker pink shade from the same Smith and Cult Book of Eyes Interlewd Palette onto my crease and blended it with a medium blending brush.
Step 10: It’s a final step of this quick makeup tutorial which consists of applying a lip liner by stila (I used the Pink Moscato shade) and a liquid lipstick (mine is Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Fig that I purchased in this holiday gift set).
That was it, guys: an easy to repeat holiday makeup look. Please let me know in the comments area below if you liked this tutorial and whether you tried any of the products I mentioned. I look forward to hearing your opinions on these products!
