I recently learned that the sale weekend doesn’t end with Black Friday and Cyber Monday. As it turned out, there is a global initiative called Giving Tuesday that supports charitable shopping. While the easiest way to participate in the #GivingTuesday movement is by picking holiday gifts from the brands that give back, there are also all sort of activities that you could get involved in. For instance, donate your time and volunteer for a good cause or donate some warm clothes to a charitable organization.
Personally, every holiday season I’m trying to do at least few things to give back. I collect some of the shoes and clothes and distribute it between Goodwill and Salvation Army (if you follow me on Instagram Stories, Ben and I just did it this weekend). I also send a check to a charitable organization that I believe in (this year, it would be World Vision and ASPCA). I didn’t get involved in any volunteering opportunities lately, but if you have any ideas please let me know in the comments!
While I understand that not many people could donate their time and money for a bigger cause, I wanted to share with you some of the ideas how you could turn your typical holiday shopping into a meaningful experience—by picking the brands and products that help to make the world a better place. Below, I list some ideas for the gifts that not only look great but also give back. Please let me know in the comments if you know about any additional brands that are giving back!
L’OCCITANE SHEA BUTTER DELUXE COLLECTION SET ($104, usa.loccitane.com) // One of my favorite beauty brands, L’Occitane, not only offers the best selection of holiday gift ideas but also gets involved in many wonderful charitable causes. This holiday season, L’Occitane has partnered with UNICEF to help children and mothers in developing countries. The brand put together two gift sets of best-selling products, Shea Butter Collection Set and Shea Butter Deluxe Collection Set, and will donate $4 from each gift set purchased to UNICEF. In addition to this important monetary contribution, L’Occitane helps to create jobs for women from Burkina Faso who produce Shea Butter for the line. In other words, by picking any of these gift sets, you are also contributing to two charitable causes at once!
What’s in the set: Shea Butter Ultra-Rich Body Cream (haven’t tried it yet), Intensive Hand Balm (my personal favorite!), Foot Cream (it really works!), Shower Cream (smells amazing!), Extra Gentle Milk Soap (gentle indeed!), and Shea Light Face Cream (to be tested), and Shea Butter Tin Box.
This gift gives back to: UNICEF (The United Nations Children’s Fund).
This gift is perfect for: Anyone! Regardless the age and gender. If you ask me, I would gift it to my mom, dad, or a boss.
BABO BOTANICALS RADIANT LIP TINT TRIO ($19.99, babobotanicals.com) // This beautifully packaged set of tinted lip balms will make a great stocking stuffer for any woman in your life. Whether it’s a mom, a sister, a friend or a coworker, everyone could benefit from rich lip smoothing balms. The best part about this lip hydrating pack is that each of the balms in the set not only offers a beautiful tint of color but also helps to protect sensitive skin on lips from the sun. Formulated with certified organic ingredients, this gift of soft lips will become such cute and helpful gift this holiday season!
This gift gives back to: Babo Botanicals is involved in a few wonderful causes such as educating children on gardening and nutrition through brand’s Plant For Change Initiative.
This gift is perfect for: Any girl in your life! Or anyone you don’t know too closely as lip balms are beauty products that are truly universal and work for anyone!
ETHIQUE 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS ADVENT CALENDAR ($38, amazon.com) // What if I told you that this colorful advent calendar includes everything you could possibly need for your skincare, haircare, and body care routine? Sounds exciting, right? And what if I told you that all these products look like… a soap? That totally brings this vegan-friendly advent calendar on a completely different level! Not to give you any spoilers, but I’ve been testing some of Ethique goodies for the last few weeks and I must say that I am impressed. It was one thing when I loved a soap shape shaving cream, but when your hair conditioner also looks like a soap and hydrates hair like nothing els—it’s fascinating! In other words, this advent calendar is a perfect opportunity to explore some of the Ethique goodies in a fun and entertaining way and help to save the environment. Since all the products are packed in paper boxes, by purchasing from the brand you become a part of the #GiveUpTheBottle movement that prevents the manufacture and disposal of plastic containers worldwide.
This gift gives back to: It helps to eliminate plastic consumption. Also, Ethique donates 20% of its profit to charitable causes: World Animal Protection, Helping You Help Animals, Animal Rescue International, and The Orangutan Project. Check out photos of Monti and Maurice, cute animals adopted by the brand.
This gift is perfect for: A vegan friend or anyone who lives a sustainable lifestyle. Also for a person who is obsessed with advent calendars or a beauty fanatic who loves experimenting with unique products.
KOPARI COCONUT CRUSH SCRUB ($38, koparibeauty.com) // While I’ve been using Kopari Organic Coconut Melt for years, I first heard about the scrub from Sephora’s Allure Best of Beauty 2017 section. I was excited to test this product out since it received such important award from the beauty editors and it did not disappoint. I already wrote about Kopari’s lip balm set in my Color-Coded Gift Guide: Pink Edition, so I decided to feature in this post a product from a permanent collection that is truly versatile and will work for anyone. Feel free to check out brand’s holiday gift set collection if you are specifically looking for a value kit option.
This gift gives back to: Waves For Water, an international charitable organization that provides clean water to communities in need around the globe. For every order placed with Kopari, the brand donates $1 to Waves For Water.
