Blending In or Standing Out?

Magnolias blooming at Arboretum DC

I feel that it’s a major blogger achievement when I happen to find a location that perfectly matches my outfit. And it’s not only about adjusting the shade of your purse to asphalt, but rather wearing a print that somehow connects with the background. Like this affordable but such cute dress I picked for my trip to Washington DC—don’t you feel that it literally copies magnolia blooms in the background?

Same story with my new botanical pumps. Honestly, I felt that my bestie Alissa got tired watching me taking a photo with any flower and blossoming bush I could find. To my excuse, I was just trying to catch a bloom that perfectly matches the coloring of my shoes—was it too much to ask? ūüėČ

Jokes aside, this beautiful alley of magnolias that we saw at the U.S. National Arboretum was so inspiring that I brought home a do-it-yourself project, a bonsai magnolia that I’m planning on growing in our house. While I’m definitely not the best with flowers in general, something about bonsai art makes me super excited. I wonder if you ever tried your bonsai growing skills?
