Custo Barcelona SS16 Collection: Take It Slow

Custo Barcelona SS16 NYFW

Many elements go into creating a perfect show. The materials, design team, models, decorations, music, the list can go on and on. And it’s always super exciting when everything just clicks. The DJ catches the spirit of the collection; the designer really thinks through every detail; the models just finally get it. That’s exactly what happened at the Custo Barcelona show. I’m rarely satisfied with all the looks from the show, but this one was an exception.

To support the genius of Mr. Custo Dalmau and the label, I decided to wear a piece of clothing by Custo Barcelona to the show. During our recent trip to Barcelona, I bought a green light jacket decorated with beads and embroidery. Yes, just like that, “Custo Barcelona’s jacket that came straight from Barcelona.” I styled my Custo jacket with a micro-mini dress by Patricia Pepe, a gorgeous golden clutch by Via Buia, and Inkkas sneakers. This look might not be my typical cocktail dress style, but rather a casual ‘too many fashion shows to attend tonight’ look that made me feel comfortable traveling from one location to another during the entire day.

Custo’s Spring-Summer 2016 collection was named “Slow” as a reference to a diligent approach to fashion where the process is anything but standardized. If you follow the creative genius of Mr. Custo Dalmau for some time, you will notice that each piece produced under the label “Custo” is never boring. Somehow the brand’s creative director manages to incorporate in one piece of clothing presumably unrelated details and receive as a result a breathtakingly beautiful and one-of-a-kind design.

This season, Custo Barcelona proposes to wear lots of patchwork, geometric and nature-inspired prints. Among new materials used for the collection are lace and knit mesh. The line features some tropical colors, such as emerald green, fuchsia, lime, and tangerine. I loved the colorful car wash skirts and dresses and jackets in all shades of pink, yellow, green, and blue. I also took a note that Custo handbags and sneakers are spectacular. I am definitely stopping by the brand’s online store to upgrade my casual outfits collection!
