History tends to repeat itself and looking at the current state of fashion I feel like I’m re-living the ‘90s again. Velvet, chokers, bold lips, bandanas, frayed denim obsession, the comeback of Doc Martens, braids… When I walk on the streets of New York City, I feel like I transported into Russia circa 1998: local fashionistas are definitely rocking the grunge trend.
This week, I wanted to experiment with a popular in the ‘90s military-style print and combine it with a new for me shade of a black lipstick. The idea of this outfit begun from this gorgeous zip-front pencil skirt from the Jennifer Hudson NY & Company’s line (c/o). This high-quality camouflage print denim skirt is a perfect statement piece that doesn’t require much styling. Pair it with a simple tank or a sweater, add a few pieces of jewelry, grab a studded handbag—and you are ready to go!
NY & Company runs a 12-hours only promotion: buy one, get 50% off so I highly recommend to stock up on some of the trendy pieces for the fall season.
You probably noticed that I decided to go all the way with my grungy beauty look too. Starting from the trendy top knot hairstyle to a bold black lipstick by e.l.f.cosmetics (c/o), this otherwise neutral makeup is screaming ‘the 90s.’ While my makeup might not be appropriate for the office, there is something empowering about wearing a bold lipstick. I think I’ll be returning to this trend again this season as it matches so well my dark colored fall outfits.
What about you? Do you wear a black lipstick often? If so, what’s your favorite brand?
