Game Day Glam: Makeup, Hair, and Outfit

Flying Colors Auburn Tigers Touchdown Twist Dress

With my acceptance to NYU, I’m exposed to so many new experiences. From doing my homework at an enormous library facility to getting my feet wet in all sorts of the campus activities, it’s a truly remarkable and nouveau experience for me—and I enjoy every second of it. One of the fresh and fun activities I’m about to explore for the first time this year is attending one of the college’s biggest events of the season. While I don’t know much about the sports, I’m dedicated to hitting the game day in style.

The first question that comes to mind when I think about attending a sport game is what to wear? I wrote a few months ago about my strategy about the Yankee game outfits, but are those rules relevant to any sports game or just baseball? Trying to figure out which style decision to make, I stopped by at Flying Colors Apparel where I found this bright orange Flying Colors Auburn Tigers Touchdown Twist Dress. It’s so girly and casual at the same time—I loved it at first sight!

While usually I’m not a fan of denim, I felt like this casual glam look required the presence of my old favorite denim jacket. I’ve got this piece very long time ago back in Russia and it’s my second time wearing it on the blog. Considering how nicely the deep navy shade of this jacket contrasts with a bright orange shade of Flying Colors Auburn twist dress, I feel that I need to wear this denim jacket more often. I’m also making sure to give this dress a go at least a few times before the weather changes as I adore how this cute and colorful this piece looks on me.

Finally, since the game day involves lots of walking and standing, I opted in for a pair of navy sneakers by Ralph Lauren. While I’m usually a “high heels everyday” kind of girl, sometimes you need to expand your style horizons and think about what works the best for the occasion.

Since we are talking about a college-related event today, I decided to create a look using only budget-friendly drugstore makeup products. While this tutorial is dedicated specifically to game day, I see myself wearing this simple yet refined look every day for classes. I also have to admit that I’m reconsidering my red lipstick addiction as I’m obsessed with this shade of orange liquid lipstick by Pop Beauty (the shade is called Poppy Pout).

Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation by L’Oreal review

Step #1

Start with a medium coverage, radiant finish Infallible Pro-Glow Foundation by L’Oreal (I used the shade #201 Classic Ivory). It’s the newest product launch by the brand that already received lots of positive reviews from the beauty community for how long this foundation stays on the skin and how natural it looks. For this look, I applied my foundation with this affordable makeup sponge that I might like even better than a beauty blender!

Step #2

Using the pointy side of the same makeup sponge, apply concealer under your eyes and onto the areas that require some extra coverage. I used my all-times favorite Maybelline Instant Age Rewind in Fair.

Coty Airspun Face Powder in Naturally Neutral review

Step #3

Set your skin with a loose powder. My current budget-friendly product in this category is Coty Airspun Face Powder in Naturally Neutral. I purchased it because Tati from Glam Life Guru was talking about it, and I never regretted it. You receive a lot of the product for the price while it works the same way as a high-end version. For my powder, I used a cute pink brush by Luxie that allows distributing the smallest amount of powder only on those areas on my skin where it’s needed.

Pixi by Petra Endless Brow Gel Pen review

Step #4

Comb brows using a brush from Milani Easy Brow Pencil and fill in your brows with Pixi by Petra Endless Brow Gel Pen in Medium.

Clay Eyeshadow Palette in Saturday Sunsets review

Step #5

For my eyes, I used a new product launch by e.l.f. Cosmetics, Clay Eyeshadow Palette in Saturday Sunsets. I applied the lightest shadow in the palette all over my lid and under the brow. Then I picked a brown shade with my Royal & Langnickel Smoky Eye BMD-421 brush and applied in on my crease. Finally, I distributed a bit of the orange-brown shade in the middle of the lid and blend all shades together.

e.l.f. cosmetics Eyeliner & Shadow Stick in Black Smoke review

Step #6

I prefer using a pencil liner during the day, especially if I’m not applying false lashes. Saying so, I picked e.l.f. cosmetics Eyeliner & Shadow Stick in Black Smoke to outline my eyes. I used an eyeliner side of the product to apply on my upper lid and an eyeshadow stick side to emphasize the outer corners of my lower lid.

Essence Forbidden Volume Rebel Mascara review

Step #7

It’s a mascara time! I applied Essence Forbidden Volume Rebel Mascara which is another recent discovery from the brand. It really adds volume to my lashes and never flakes on me.

Wet n Wild MegaGlo Illuminating Palette review

Step #8

Add a bit glow and color to your skin by using a highlighter from Wet n Wild MegaGlo Illuminating Palette that I applied using Tapered Highlighter brush #522 by Luxie.

Pop Beauty Permanent Pout Liquid Lipstick in the shade Poppy Pout review

Step #9

The last step in my game day makeup routine is to apply Pop Beauty Permanent Pout Liquid Lipstick in the shade Poppy Pout in that will last all day and never stains. We are all set with a makeup look!

Bandanas seem to be the hottest trend this summer and I decided to transition this versatile piece into fall by styling it in my hair. In order to match my casual look to a proper hairstyle, I decided to create an effortless and voluminous hairstyle using my new limited edition electric pink flat iron by ghd. In my experience, it’s one of the best flat irons I’ve ever tested as it allows to create so many unique hair looks by using just this one tool.

OGX Anti-Gravity + Hydration O2 Weightless Oil & Lift Tonic review

Step #1

Start with applying OGX Anti-Gravity + Hydration O2 Weightless Oil & Lift Tonic onto roots of your hair (make sure to shake the bottle before using the product). This delicious smelling mist is my new favorite product to add volume and moisture to my color treated fine hair. It’s especially useful if you are trying to achieve the effortless hair effect that looks pretty, but not “overdone.”

ghd platinum™ electric pink styler review

Step #2

Using ghd platinum™ electric pink styler, curl each section of your hair concentrating on the root area only so the ends of your hair stay straight. For your convenience, consider separating each section of your hair with hair clips.

Step #3

Pick a section of hair on each side of your face and secure them with hair clips. Fold your bandana three or four times (depending on how wide or narrow you’d like it to look) and run it underneath the back of your head so the ends are facing upwards.

Step #4

For added volume, consider spritzing your hair with a hair spray. I used amika Un.Done Texture Spray which is my current favorite volumizing hair spray.
