Hot or Not: BeautyCon Winter Box 2017

I received a very positive review on my latest BeautyCon box review and I was even more excited to review the winter box as it’s been curated by a super popular YouTuber, Dulce Candy. In case you don’t know, Dulce is a Latina influencer who talks about makeup, beauty, and life in general—while inspiring women from all ethnical descents to embrace their strength and beauty. Even though I enjoy watching Dulce Candy videos and I received this box complimentary for the review purposes, I was very strict when it comes to reviewing BeautyCon Winter Box—so you know for sure whether this beauty subscription box is Hot or Not!

What’s BeautyCon Box: In case you don’t know, it’s a beauty subscription service that offers a full box of beauty goodies delivered to you once a season. In opposition to other similar services, most of the products in the box are full-size high-end beauty brands. There are also a few cute additions to each box, like the cutest stickers and candy that I received in my last box, or luxury tools like this season’s Luxie brush.

What’s the Price Point: The box goes for $29, but you can receive $5 off if you use the code KATYAWINTER (offers expires on March 1st). If you are a new subscriber, you will also receive a free bonus box!

The Testing Procedure: Before we begin, I have to confess that I received the box back in December and I immediately take these photos so I can take all the goodies with me on vacation and properly test them. No spoiler alert intended, but I use some of the items from this box until this day and absolutely love them!

What’s In My BeautyCon Box: Winter’s box featured 11 makeup and skincare products (some of which I’ve used before). This season around, it was a mix of high-end, luxury, and affordable brands that are oftentimes talked about in the beauty community. The box also included an exclusive shade of lipstick which was both a good and bad thing. Good because I’ve been obsessively using this caramel smelling product. Bad because now I have to repurchase the entire box again as I can’t find this shade and formula anywhere else!

Artist Couture Illuminati Diamond Glow Powder: I’ve heard about this highlighter so many times before, mostly at Nikkie Tutorials channel. In case you don’t know Nikkie, she is a queen of highlighters and if she says this product is a bomb, I usually believe her. This glow powder has not disappointed: despite the fact that it provides a gold shimmer (which is not ideal for my pale skin), it actually looks amazing! Usually, I apply it not only onto my cheeks, but also under the brow bone. Trust me, this glow powder will earn you tons of compliments from fellow makeup lovers!

Biobelle Botanic Fiber Facial Mask: I intended wearing this mask on the plane, but decided not to as it would look weird. When I finally applied the sheet mask in the hotel, I was pleasantly surprised. It worked very well and smelled so delicious!

ColourPop BeautyCon Exclusive Lipstick: If you are a fan of ColourPop lipsticks, I would recommend purchasing this box just for this product. This lipstick comes in such amazing shade and smells so yummy (like caramel!) that I literally couldn’t get enough of it. Highly recommended!

Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water: Usually, I use my Bioderma Micellar Water which is my holy grail of skincare, but this more affordable product worked as well. It easily removed my liquid lipstick and mascara—so no complains at all about it!

Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment: Before I got addicted to my Real Chemistry 3-Minute Peel, this exfoliator was my go-to treatment. When applied, it tingles a bit, but it’s totally worth it: when used regularly, my skin will looks much cleaner and has more breakouts. In other words, I really love this stuff!

L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Lash Primer and Feline Mascara: I used this primer before and I never really liked it so my opinion remains the same. When it comes to mascara, it’s a good one! I love the wand and the durability of the product. My only complaint is that this mascara is difficult to remove in a shower—but if you use micellar water before washing your face, you’ll be fine.

Luxie Beauty Rose Gold Tapered Highlighting Brush #522: That’s my second brush by the brand and I’m totally into it. It’s super cute looking and such handy to use—not only for a highlighter, but also for blush and a setting powder. For the last month or so it’s been my favorite multitasker brush.

Rimmel London The Only One Surprise Lip Color: While I truly loved the shade and a formula of this lipstick, I have to warn you that it’s not a long-lasting product. It feels great on the lips, but after I went outside wearing it, the product immediately started catching my hair and transferring on my skin.

TooFaced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer: I’m super pale and not the right candidate to review this product, but I felt that it was such better than your typical too dark bronzer. In fact, I managed to use it a couple of time while taking photos and it looked great!

Skinlove Body Karate Cream: The formula of this body lotion is very nice, but it’s nothing out of this world. Yes, it smells delicious and it really moisturized my skin, but I would not repurchase it religiously. Well, maybe just a couple of times!

The Verdict: Overall, I loved most of the products from the box and in my opinion it’s a great investment if you consider purchasing the box. Just one brush from the set cost almost as much as entire box so you do the math! Please let me know about the box in the comments area below, but in my book BeautyCon Winter Box is definitely a “Hot”!
