My Morning Rituals

Swan Lake Ballet Porcelain Cup

I love my precious ballerina teacup because it’s elegant and Russian!

One of the sweetest traditions that Ben and I enjoy every time the weather allows is to drink tea on our roof. For me, having my first cup of tea in the morning is one of those rituals responsible for making the rest of the day productive and stress-free. Our teatime is not about finding Zen or tasting exclusive types of brews; I never meditated in my life and I’m very conservative about the tea selection (peppermint only, please!). Instead, it’s just one of the rituals we enjoy doing together. Today, I am sharing the other five staple morning rituals.

#1: No matter how sleepy, I always start my day from hugging Ben and telling him “good morning, sweetie.” When you are in a long-term relationship, it’s easy to just let it go and stop demonstrating any signs of affection. However, those little intimate traditions really make partners feel connected. Even if someone has to wake up early and leave the house while another person is still sleeping, a simple text with a cute emoji is all you need to keep your ritual working.

#2: Many of my close friends know that breakfast is everything for me. In fact, I love breakfast meals so much that I wish every meal was breakfast. Since I am trying not to eat too much at night, I wake very hungry and need to get my food ready as soon as possible. I go for oatmeal with peanut butter, cinnamon, and banana (or other fruit). I love my oatmeal wholeheartedly and can’t really explain to my friends how I can eat it 365 days a year.

#3: Watching TV and specifically news was not on my radar for many years. In fact, I haven’t ever owned a TV when I lived on my own since I never ever watched it. However, living with Ben, who likes to stay up-to-date on current events changed my news consumption habits. I don’t mind at all learning about local news on NY 1 channel while getting ready or going through and sorting out emails.

#4: While I am planning to write an entire post about my morning beauty routine, I just want to mention here that it really matters. Whether you like it or not, but your appearance influences how you feel about yourself and all that pampering increases the chances that you feel comfortable and confident the whole day. Recently, I added to my typical routine a beautifully smelling face mist and I can’t be happier. Even if I am staying at home the whole day long, I love surrounding myself with an elegant smell of this beauty product.

#5: Finally, morning is the most productive part of the day for me when it comes to writing. It hasn’t been always like that. I’ve been a night owl for many years, but the realization that I have clearer thoughts in the morning forced me to change my writing routine. Today, I am trying to start my creative process the moment I open my laptop, trying my best not to get distracted on emails, social media, and other time-sucking things.

How about you? Do you have any morning rituals that help you to be more productive, relaxed, or organized? I would love to hear about those!

  • Mornings are ALWAYS rough for me but coffee in my special mug is also something that I do as well. Thanks for linking up with us on Start The Week Stylish!

    • Indeed, I can’t imagine my life without coffee too, but I drink mine only a couple of hours after breakfast (I think it’s better for your stomach). I also use coffee as a reward for going to the gym… Well, it’s a completely different story :))

  • Breakfast is definitely my favourite time, actually any meals in general is my favourite time of the day. Food is huge in Malaysia, you find restaurants open 24hours a day and it’s very normal to stumble out of the club and into a restaurant for a rice or noodles meal. LOL!

    • Hahaha Shireen you are so cute “any meals in general is my favourite time of the day” ♥ ♥ ♥ I love food too! And there is nothing better than to eat late at night (especially chocolate!) xoxo

  • Great routine. Especially loved the one about letting Ben know you love him first thing off the bat! And congrats on getting your tutorial featured.

Congratulations on being included in the link round up! That is such an awesome accomplishment! Was lovely to read a bit about your morning rituals as well! I tend to just get up and dive into work immediately, but I should really start a bit of a routine – if I were to do so, it would include meditation, yoga, and enjoying a cup of tea while watching the news.
