I am working hard on my summer reading list and I one of the books that I recently finished is How to Be Parisian Wherever You Are: Love, Style, and Bad Habits. The book is very fun and it deserves a separate review, and now I simply want to share with you my Paris-inspired outfit. According to the authors of How to Be Parisian, stripes and messy hair are all indicators of Paris-style, while red lipstick is a classic French chic.

My obsession with French culture goes much deeper than simply street style fashion. I am deeply in love with French literature, art, food, and overall aesthetics. In fact, I always had a dream to learn French and read one of my favorite books, War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy in original. I already know Russian (it’s my native language), but there are many parts in the epic novel written in French. I also dream about visiting Paris one day… but only under the condition that speak French.

Well, I finally start learning French this semester! I am very excited about it and can’t wait to start mastering verb conjugation and practice pronouncing voiced uvular fricative. I am a bit nervous though because it’s a very big deal to learn a new language (it took so long with English!). Also, I am afraid that I might confuse French with English…and speak not even RuGlish (Russian mixed with English), but FRuGlish (French, Russian, and English). Do you think it’s possible? I will really appreciate any advice on how to learn a new language without forgetting the one you already know.

I love this look!!! The french style is absolutely amazing its casual but yet glam all at the same time! I would love to visit paris but I may have to bring my brother along as he knows how to speak the language. I could barely learn spanish ahhh how embarassing! My brother because he knows spanish and french on top of english he sometimes mixes the words together in a whole sentence leaving me baffled lol. But just take your time and it will eventually come natural like it did for you with english! Good luck on learning french, I know you can do it!!!

  • I love your Parisian chic outfit interpretation! It is just so effortless, isn’t it – the way the French do it? I think all cultures are mystifying but French is very high on the list, as is Russian! Everyone speaks of Russian beauty and you are one beautiful Russian lady, Katya. It’s possible to mix the three languages in one especially when you’re exposed to all three. Here, a mix of Malay and English is called Manglish and we mix a little Chinese (mandarin) and Indian (tamil) words into the same pot! Language is very interesting, isn’t it? 😀

Hi, do you mind if I ask about the bag? I am considering buying one myself on ifchic, but there are no reviews online for it, just your blog post!

    • Hey Cary and so sorry for the late response! Your message got lost in my Inbox…

I own a bag by ifChic for a year now and I’m still in love with it! I wear it in the City, I took it to New York Fashion Week – it’s just perfect.

The best thing about purchasing things on ifchic is that you can really earn some “free money” if you spend some time on the website collecting coins. My advice is to collect them during the month so by the time sale goes live you already have a budget to work with.

Also, try to act quickly! Since there are so many people collecting coins and hunting for the deals, under $100 items are getting sold out very quickly. My recommendation is to set-up a calendar alert so you can check sale items the moment they go live.

Finally, have a specific item in mind while shopping. That way, you will not spend time on looking through pages of items and save time. Also, get the items you love in your Card as soon as possible – if you change your mind, you can remove them later. But that way you’ll make sure that no one else will purchase the items you were considering to purchase.

I hope it helps! Please let me know if you have any additional questions!
