I’m not the most educated on sales and scoring major deals on clothes, but every once in a while I hit a home run. Like this perfect camel coat that I was ready to purchase for a full price, but accidentally scored it for 80% off. I mean, can you even believe it? I was more than excited and immediately reported on my shopping success on Stories. Do you want to know how I received the discount? Easy: I just said that I’m a new client and that I’d love to have some sort of a deal…

I guess it’s one of those situations where you “ask and shall receive” because there was no indication that the coat was on sale. I guess I just got lucky. It’s the third time this season when I got a piece that I truly loved at the fraction of the price. The first deal was these Sophia Webster sandals that I can’t stop photographing—that’s how beautiful these are! I went on my first sample sale and there you have it—pefect size, perfect fit, and perfect price! Same happens with these Modern Vice sneaker: I came, I saw, and I took them home.

I don’t know why I never had a chance to explore the sample sale culture earlier in my blogging career. I mean, I attended a yearly Gilt sale, but it was more of a fashion event than a single brand sale. As it turned out, there are a few sample sale locations here in New York where you could find anything and everything at up to 90% off. My friend Michelle Blashka who is a real pro at scoring major deals on sample sales. She recently wrote a post Confessions of a Sample Sale-Aholic which is spectacular. If you live in a big city and plan on becoming one, I highly recommend checking her post out.
