Talking about multi-purpose dresses, I think that there is nothing better than those designed by Tahari. They are elegant and appropriate for the office, while at the same time they are feminine and work great at any social situation—from a family dinner to happy hour fun or a gathering with friends. I have a couple of Tahari dresses in my collection, and they always save me when I am experiencing the “I have nothing to wear” moments.
Among my favorite brands that design great multi-purpose dresses for petite fashionistas are Karen Millen and BCBG. Also, sometimes I am able to find interesting pieces by Ann Taylor, Kate Spade, and J. Crew. These companies produce some of the best medium length dresses that, in my experience, are so difficult to find. I’m a “reduced model” (a term used by one of my petite friends), and usually most middle-length skirts are too long for me (while petite models are short!). However, the brands mentioned above seem to use correct patterns for my type of body.
In these photos I do not carry any bag, but I also prefer this accessory to be versatile. For me, a medium size black leather bag and a black clutch are the best investments ever. As I mentioned in the post “Unwritten Rules,” a white bag also seems to be a versatile piece (yes, even during the fall and winter seasons). In my opinion, the main concern for multi-purpose bags is the quality of the material it is made from. I know that many people prefer suede, but I think that leather bags last longer. For instance, I am still in love with one of my Botkier bags that I’ve been carrying for about five years—it still looks great!
