The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic 2018 returned to Liberty State Park to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the champagne house—and we were right there, sipping rose in 85 degrees heat and rocking head to toe Ted Baker.
For me, attending The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic is already a tradition. It all started back in 2016 when I first attended with my friends and wrote an in-depth guide on what to expect from the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic. Until this day, I receive comments on this post and honestly speaking I have nothing at all to add. It’s pretty straightforward: drink water, re-apply sunscreen, and take flats for while walking to the event location.
That’s exactly what we did with my bestie Mariann this year: flats all the way so we save our all white Ted Baker sandals for the event, where people are dressed preppy and chic, and champagne is floating around spritzed with a small talk and a spectacular game. Let’s be honest and admit that for the majority of the audience the game was just an occasion to dress up and have a memorable picnic. And there were a lot of stylish (and so extra!) moments that truly inspired me to get a bit out of my fashion comfort zone.
While the obvious trend for the occasion was to wear exaggerated hats and wedges, Mariann and I decided to go the classy way and stick to curly hair, feminine dresses, statement clutches, and chic sandals—all by our favorite feminine fashion brand, Ted Baker. Since this year we were invited to enjoy the game at the Rose Garden, I picked a blush pink dress with lace detailing and comfortable block heel sandals. To make the look a bit more extraordinary, a statement pink bow clutch was the way to go. Mariann wore a fabulous floral print dress and an elegant light pink crossbody—and the same sandals I picked! In case you wonder, in our book twinning in Ted Baker is always a great idea!
Despite the almost intolerable heat and layers of sunscreen that was literally melting off people’s bodies, the unofficial kickoff to summer in New York was full of exciting meetings, tons of photos, and new connections. And yes, perhaps a way too much bubbly a classy girl can handle on a fabulous Saturday day.
