When you are running your own business or trying to obtain your college degree, it’s not likely that you have an hour or so on creating a perfect YouTube inspired makeup look. You might sneak a few contouring techniques here and there, but for the most part it’s all about multi-purpose easy to apply products that help you to look like a slightly more polished version of yourself. Knowing how much I have on my plate lately, I decided to create a natural look with an edgy twist by using some of my all favorites as well as new products by Clarins. This is my second collaboration with the brand and if you missed it, I highly recommend checking out my post How to Tame Vacation Skin that was also sponsored by the brand.
Before we begin, I want to mention that regardless how perfect your makeup application skills are, it’s important to dedicate enough time and efforts towards your skincare regime. So even if you super busy and don’t have time to apply makeup, I insist that you wash your face, apply moisturizer, and sunscreen every single day. Trust me, you’ll be thankful for that advice a few years later! If you struggle with finding the products that work for you, I highly recommend checking out this test that will allow you to find the best products for your skincare routine. Or, if you want just a few product recommendations, I would say go for this cleanser, this toner, this moisturizer, and this sunscreen. While I test all sorts of skincare products by different brands, I have these essentials in my bathroom at any day of the year (and it’s been like that for the last… 5 years or so!).
To create this makeup look, I used the following products:
*Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch: It was one of the first primers I’ve even tried and for years I’ve been using it without applying any foundation on top at all. This product is perfect for the no makeup kind of days when you just want your pores to look a bit more presentable and your skin tone—a bit more even. Combined with my current favorite foundation, this smoothing balm is perfect for any hectic lifestyle situation.
*L’Oreal Brow Stylist Frame and Set in #215 Deep Brunette: My new favorite affordable brow product that perfectly matches my brow color and will probably last me for a few years as it requires just a tiny bit of a product to finish both brows.
*Clarins Instant Light Brush-On Perfector: I’ve never tried this concealer before, but I truly enjoyed testing it for this makeup tutorial. It’s so perfect for correcting any eyebrow or eyeliner mistakes as well as covering under eye darkness! I checked out the brand’s website and according to the product description it works not only as a typical concealer, but also as a skincare product as it provides “instant tightening effect” and helps to “diminish signs of fatigue.” I can totally relate to that!
*Estee Lauder Double Wear Nude Cushion Foundation in the shade 1N2: This product is perfect if you are trying to create a flawless radiant look and don’t feel like you are wearing foundation. It’s been by far my most used foundation over the last few months and I highly recommend it!
*Clarins Face Contouring Palette: I don’t mean to give you a spoiler alert, but I used this powder contouring kit not only to add dimension to my face, but also to emphasize my eyes. Since I have such pale skin, the highlighter and bronzer from the kit worked perfectly as neutral eyeshadows! I also fell in love with the blush as this long-lasting formula is so effortlessly blendable and looks so pretty on my cheeks.
*Clarins 4-Color All-in-One Pen for Eyes and Lips: This limited edition launch by the brand is my absolute favorite as it brings me back to childhood when all kids had those cool pens that combine a few colors in one. This summer, I purchased one of such pens at Papyrus and it was a major nostalgic moment for me. Imagine how thrilled I was to learn that now Clarins is producing similar pens… but for makeup! It’s a makeup junkie’s dream come true! This 4-in-one liner pen is limited edition so I highly recommend stocking up on these for your own pleasure and as a present for your fellow makeup lovers.
*Clarins Supra Volume Mascara: It was my first time using a mascara by the brand, and I ended up being highly satisfied. The product does a perfect job separating lashes and adding volume—which are the exact qualities I’m looking for in a perfect everyday mascara.
*Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in 01 Rose Shimmer: This is another all-time favorite of mine that I’ve been having in my collection for years (well, not actually “having” because every time I repurchase it I end up using just this one balm until it’s empty and forget about the rest of my makeup collection!). It comes in such tender shade of pink that looks natural and so beautiful. It also helps to keep my lips hydrated and tastes delicious—which is so rare to find when it comes to lip glosses.
To repeat this look, follow these steps.
Step #1: Start by applying primer to even your skin tone and create a perfect base for your foundation.
Step #2: Apply your favorite foundation using a brush or a beauty blender.
Step #3: Fill in your brows as usually. Everyone has their own technique so I’ll not gonna waste time on explaining mine as I provided a detailed tutorial on how I take care of my brows in this blog post.
Step #4: Using a concealer pen, apply the product under your eyes and under the brow. Blend the under eye area with a beauty blender and use a flat concealer brush to even out the brow line.
Step #5: Pick up a contouring kit and apply a bronzer onto your crease. Use a highlighter on the inner corner and the center of your eye. Finally, apply the same highlighter shade onto the brow bone to make your eyes stand out even more.
Step #6: Using the same contouring kit, apply bronzer onto the forehead and under the cheek. Blend thoroughly. Follow by the blush applied in circular motions moving towards ears. Pick a highlighter and apply a light shade from the palette above the blush; connect the brow and cheek highlighter lines.
Step #7: Using a dark brown shade from the 4-in-one makeup pen, outline the upper lid and create a tiny natural-looking line. Pick a cobalt blue shade and emphasize the lower lid. Blend thoroughly with a small brush or a cotton swab.
Step #8: If needed, correct the under eyeliner area with the same concealer used in the step #4 of this tutorial. Apply two layers of mascara.
Step #9: Pick the same 4-in-one makeup pen and outline your lips with the lightest nude shade from the set.
Step #10: Finish the look by applying a lip gloss.
I hope you enjoyed this easy to repeat everyday look. As promised, it was a simple makeup that is so easy to repeat if you are just beginning to play with makeup. More importantly, it takes just a few minutes to finish so it’s perfect for the days when you need to make yourself look put together while in a hurry.
