When Dior launched their logo-stamped eye patches, I knew there would become an immediate TikTok trend. But, hey, I don’t blame anyone: Dior skincare logomania got me too and ordered these eye patches to try as soon as they hit the market. So let’s dive into the topic of whether these Dior eye patches are worth the hype.
Dior Eye Patches 101
I’m very familiar with Dior skincare, but I can’t recall the brand doing eye patches before. The brand is known for some of the eye care products, such as an eye serum from the Capture Youth collection, it’s been the brand’s most noticed mask collection. Priced at $29 for a set of two one-use eye patches and a miniature version of Dior Capture Totale Super Potent Eye Serum, this luxury treat seems to be more obtainable than other Dior skincare products. Or at least more affordable than $130 Chanel eye patches that also received some social media hype.
Dior Eye patches are described as “the greatest backstage asset for preparing the eyes and giving them an instant glow,” all in a matter of 10 minutes. Apparently, Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup, uses these patches on models at the fashion house runway shows, combined with an eye cream applied under the eye masks. As it’s described on the Dior website, the under-eye area after using these masks looks “depuffed and refreshed.”
Hyaluronic Acid and Rye Extract are listed as hero ingredients. But, somewhere along the way, we also see Niacinamide and a handful of unpronounceables. Serum-wise, the key ingredients are the same; plus, it’s free of parabens, formaldehyde, phthalates, mineral oil, and sulfates. It does contain synthetic fragrance at the end of the ingredients list, which means it’s about or less than one percent.
My Take on Dior Eye Patches
It didn’t hit me right when I realized that these patches should be used with the eye serum. My immediate reaction was: of course, the under-eye area will look more refreshed since you are applying a Hyaluronic based serum on it! But, as it turned out, the serum is only used to emphasize the effect. You can apply the patches separately if needed.
I applied the patches with eye serum for my first try-on, as recommended. I have a very sensitive under-eye area, and these patches didn’t cause any irritation or sensitivity at all. The serum applied under the patches had a lovely lightweight consistency immediately absorbed into my skin.
When applying the product, I noticed that the serum would last me much longer than an application with two sets of eye patches. It sparked a thought that these hype-worthy patches might be a good introduction to Dior skincare for people who haven’t tried their skin line yet.
The eye patches had a typical hydrogel texture (the shape, thickness, and texture reminded me of Elemis Pro-Collagen Hydra-Gel Eye Masks that I consider one of my favorites). I did notice a slight improvement in the skin hydration department after applying the patches for 10 minutes. But as with many other eye masks, the effect was only temporary.
What I enjoyed the most about the patches was that my concealer applied like a dream after using them. So while I was skeptical at first, Dior eye patches did provide a slight refreshment to the area. Whether it’s an eye serum or eye masks themselves to count responsible, a non-dramatic refreshing effect has been achieved. And hey, I didn’t hate the designer look of the patches either! Dior logo eye patches make a perfect Instagram selfie look if you ask me.
Where to Buy Dior Eye Patches
There are a few options. If you are looking for gorgeous designer packaging and a signature Dior box with your eye patches order, head over to the Dior website. The brand will also send you three perfume samples with the order. Sephora is a good option if you collect points towards your VIB or Rouge status.
