The beginning of the year is always an exciting time for me as so many makeup brands launch their new products. One of them is the new Milani Amore Matte Metallic Lip Crème. Today, I’ll be reviewing and testing some of the shades from the collection. Let’s decide whether this new launch is hot or not.
The Promise
“Paint your pout with gilded glamour. Bold and richly pigmented, these metallic liquid lip colors shine with a soft luster and dry to a smooth matte finish — without drying out your lips. Waterproof and kiss-approved, each Amore Matte Metallic Lip Crème delivers up to 16 hours of wear. Remove with a long-wear lip color remover.”
Packaging
I always love Milani packaging, as it looks way more luxurious than you could expect from a drugstore brand.
Color Range
Milani website lists 15 shades and I tested 5 out of them.
- 01 Chromattic Addict
- 02 Matterealistic
- 03 Matte About You
- 04 Cinemattic Kiss (swatch below)
- 05 Dramattic Diva (swatch below)
- 06 Mattely in Love (swatched in this post)
- 07 Automattic Touch
- 08 Raving Matte (swatch below)
- 09 Pure Matteness (swatch below)
- 10 Pretty Problemattic (swatch below)
- 11 Making Me Matte
- 12 Prismattic Touch
- 13 Overdramattic
- 14 My Soulmatte
- 15 The Ultimatte
Coverage
The product is very pigmented so you need just one coat for the majority of the shades. I felt that only #04 Cinematic Kiss requires more than one coat.
Longevity
In my humble opinion, the claim that this liquid lipstick will last up to 16 hours is simply not realistic. I would say, 8 at most — and only if you are not eating.
However, I’ve never tested a lipstick that actually lasts 16 hours so from this perspective it performed as well as many other products in the category. I would compare the longevity of this newest Milani launch with Too Faced Melted Metal, but Milani ones do not feel as thick on your lips as Too Faced ones.
Scent
It’s pleasant and almost non-existent, which is in my book a positive characteristic.
Transferability
It does leave just a tiny amount of product on my coffee mug, but it doesn’t seem to impact the overall look of the product on my lips. Same goes with kisses — it leaves a bit of product on the cheek but doesn’t smudge your lip look.
Removal
As mentioned before, the product is very durable so it requires some heavy-duty makeup remover. Usually, it took me two to three cotton rounds damped in Bioderma micellar water to completely remove the product from my lips.
Price Point
$6.25 on Amazon (0.24 oz).
The Best Part
The color range is so gorgeous! The metallic finish looks fantastic on photos and in real life. It doesn’t make my lips as dry as some other liquid lipsticks.
The Worst Part
Will emphasize all the imperfections if your lips are very dry and patchy.
The Conclusion
Overall, it’s a major “hot” product for me. I’ve been wearing some of the shades non-stop lately and in my opinion, this new Milani launch features some of the most fantastic metallic shades. Even if compared to more expensive options.
All of these colors are so pretty! Love ’em! I have used Milani blushes for years, but never tried any of their lip products. So going pick some up now!

I’m so glad you enjoyed them too, Amanda! As a makeup collector, I’m looking forward to purchasing the rest of the shades in the collection too! However, these lipsticks seem to be very popular in NYC as these are sold out in every pharmacy in my neighborhood… I need to arrange a special trip and try to find them!
Thank you, Milan! I’m so glad you enjoyed the shades! The quality of those lipsticks is amazing!
I’m so glad to read a great, positive review on these! I’ve collected 8 shades in my multiple trips to the drugstore and really love the different colors and feel of the product (not to mention the amazing scent). Mattely In Love would have to be my favorite shade. Thanks for posting this!
All of these colors look gorgeous on you! Thanks for swatching these lovely colors!

Not into metallics, but these are pretty. I could probably work with Cinematic Kiss.

Agreed! Those feel luck very expensive luxurious products too! It’s such a score for a drugstore!
I love the finish of these products, they look such high quality :)
