101 on Velashape III – My Experience

Disclosure: I received my Velashape treatments complimentary for review purposes. All opinions are my own.

If you follow me on Instagram, you probably remember seeing my midday breaks at the Manhattan Laser SPA. I’ve been napping these 4 times in a row lately as I’ve been getting my Velashape III treatments. Today, about a month after my last procedure, I’m ready to report on my Velashape 3 results – stay tuned if you are considering this cellulite-smoothing body treatment yourself.

What is it?

In short, Velashape is a non-invasive FDA-cleared treatment for reducing the appearance of cellulite. It’s also a body shaping and contouring treatment which means the treatment area will look not only smoother but also more toned. Talking about the Velashape technology it’s a combination of four different technologies: (1) infrared light, (2) bipolar radio frequency, (3) suction, and (4) massage.

How many sessions do you need?

For best results, it’s recommended anywhere from 3 to 6 sessions. Since my cellulite situation was not severe, I did 4 procedures total – 30 minutes each. Once you picked your Velashape package, it’s also important (for the best results) to keep your sessions about one week apart for a few weeks straight.

How does it feel?

Each procedure lasts for about half an hour and feels like a warm massage. While different people have a different level of sensitivity to heat I never encountered a review where a person complains about Velashape being uncomfortable. Personally, I found the procedures very relaxing and pain-free. In fact, I fell asleep during the majority of my treatments. So, it’s a no pain and no downtime kind of procedure.

What is the downtime?

In my experience, there was no downtime at all. My skin felt a bit pink for 10-15 minutes after the procedure, but no more than what I have if I took a warm shower. By the time I came home from my Velashape appointment, I was ready to rock a mini skirt and no tights – no one would be able to tell I had an anti-cellulite treatment done.

What are the potential side effects?

I’ve heard some people reporting light bruising, but I have such thin and sensitive skin and I didn’t experience anything like that! You might need to let your Velashape technician know if you bruise easily. Other than that, I don’t think there are any major side effects reported.

Who is this treatment for?

This treatment is designed for people who live an active lifestyle and are looking for some extra help in the skin smoothing and toning departments. It’s like a cherry on the top of the cake when you already have your healthy eating and exercise routines in check, but you want all your work to be more visible.

What are the results?

In my personal experience, the result is more toned and smooth looking skin. I didn’t have much cellulite to start with, my Velashape results gave me that nice smoothing finish on my legs prior to a vacation. Since we are being real here, the biggest benefit of Velashape treatment for me was self-confidence boost. Hey, if your skin is smooth and you feel good about it, it doesn’t matter what size you are wearing. For me, it was a major benefit and I plan on getting another Velashape treatment package prior to the beach season.

How long the results last?

I started noticing the results after two Velashape sessions and the results continued improving as I continued with my treatments. While I haven’t done any “touch-ups” yet, it is recommended that you refresh the results with just one session every 3-6 months. So, while I’m loving my results now, I’m planning on squeezing one more session somewhere in May or June – right before the Hamptons season begins.

Where did you do your Velashape treatment?

I went to Manhattan Laser and SPA located at 56 E 34th St, New York, NY 10016. The staff was very friendly, the treatment room is immaculately clean, it’s conveniently located near all subways, and you just feel so comfortable in there! If you live in New York, I do recommend checking them out. An insider tip: sign up for their email updates to receive promotions, they do regularly offer discounted deals on body treatments, including Velashape.

How would you rate your Velashape experience?

I really loved it! It’s super relaxing and non-invasive and I love how my skin looks after the procedure. Now I want to do a few treatments on my belly and glutes – you know, so I look and feel smooth everywhere for the upcoming bikini season!
