It happens to all of us. You snoozed too many times, overslept for work, and now you have to make yourself look presentable in a matter of minutes. What do you do? I happened to be in this situation too and doing makeup in the cab is not a new concept for me, so here come my 2 cents on applying makeup while commuting.
But before we begin, let me point out that for beauty emergencies like that it’s always great to have a go-to makeup pouch ready where you have all your 5-minute makeup products. Please let me know in the comments if you want me to create a dedicated post on what to include in your grab-and-go makeup bag. Meanwhile, let’s imagine that you already have one so these are the tips on how to do your makeup in the cab.
Go for a Cushion Foundation
While doing on-the-go makeup, the goal is to eliminate the messiness from the process as much as possible. Trust me, you don’t want to mess with a foundation and a damp beauty blender while doing your makeup in the cab. Instead, pick an easy to apply cushion foundation. These usually go with an in-built applicator and feature a mirror – both are handy while applying your foundation on-the-go.
Cushion Foundations to Try
Concealer and Blend
Let’s be real here: if you are already late, there is no time for contouring, blush, and a highlighter. The best we can do is to apply a concealer and call it a day. Similar to foundations, every concealer is created equal. I recommend going for the easy to blend formulas that feature convenient applicator. Again, if you don’t have a concealer brush packed, you don’t want to get your hands dirty while blending a concealer.

Tame Your Brows
Brow pencils and transportation is not a great combo, so be realistic and don’t try to have a perfect brows day. Instead, stick to your natural brow shape. Use a clear brow gel to make your brows look a bit less out of control and call it a day in the brow department.

Attempt to Apply Mascara
This step takes a lot of practice and makeup removing wipes, but if you try applying mascara on the red light, it might actually work out. Just a few mascara swipes are all you can count on, so don’t even bother applying a few layers. Also, make sure to have makeup wipes or swabs on hand in case of mascara application emergencies.
Gloss and Go!
Generally speaking, lipsticks are more difficult to apply in a moving car. Saying so, don’t even think of applying a liquid lipstick! Imagine how you’ll be removing it from all over your face in case the cab moves unexpectedly. Instead, go for comfortable lip gloss formulas that are easy to apply. These are more appropriate for the a.m. makeup anyways!
